United Airlines has announced its largest international expansion ever for summer 2025, with flights to eight new cities: Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia), Kaohsiung (Taiwan), Nuuk (Greenland), Palermo (Italy), Bilbao (Spain), Madeira Island and Faro (Portugal), and Dakar (Senegal).
Starting May 1, United Airlines will launch the only nonstop seasonal flights from Tokyo/Narita to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia as part of the ‘Welcome to MonGOlia’ campaign. This route enhances access to Mongolia’s stunning landscapes for nearly half a million tourists, targeting growth in visitors primarily from Europe, South Korea, and Japan.
United Airlines introduces direct flights from Tokyo/Narita to Kaohsiung, Taiwan starting July 11. This new route enhances travel options to Taiwan, allowing visitors to discover Kaohsiung’s mix of city life, historical attractions, and scenic spots such as Love River and Lotus Pond.
From May 23, United Airlines enhances its African network with year-round, thrice-weekly nonstop flights from Washington/Dulles to Dakar, Senegal. Already serving South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, and Morocco seasonally, this addition aligns with the 13% surge in African tourism.
Starting June 14, United Airlines will provide direct, seasonal flights twice a week from Newark/New York to Nuuk, Greenland. As the sole U.S. airline with nonstop flights to Nuuk, United offers travelers a unique opportunity to explore Greenland’s natural beauty. The new international airport in Nuuk supports a quick, over four-hour flight directly from the U.S.
United Airlines will launch thrice-weekly seasonal nonstop flights from Newark/New York to Palermo, Italy, beginning May 21. As the only U.S. airline connecting the West Coast directly to Italy, including Venice and Rome, the service uses Boeing 767-400 aircraft with premium, lie-flat seats.
United Airlines is expanding its Spanish network with nonstop flights from Newark to Bilbao, beginning May 31. As the largest city in the Basque Country, Bilbao offers attractions like the Guggenheim Museum and Basque pinxtos. With this addition, United will serve six destinations in Spain—more than any other U.S. airline—and is the only carrier providing direct flights to Palma de Mallorca, Tenerife, Malaga, and Bilbao.
Starting June 7, 2025, United Airlines will be the only U.S. airline offering nonstop flights from Newark to Madeira Island, Portugal, three times a week. This new route enhances access to Madeira’s landscapes and culture, strengthening United’s lead in flights to Portugal and Northern Spain.
On May 16, 2025, United Airlines will commence its exclusive nonstop flights connecting Newark with Faro, Portugal. This service, available four times a week, positions United Airlines as the only U.S. airline to offer a direct route to the Algarve region, known for its exquisite beaches and high-end resorts.
