TSA Administrator David Pekoske said, “We expect this summer to be our busiest ever and summer travel usually peaks over the Independence Day holiday,”
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is preparing for a surge in passengers during the Independence Day holiday period. They predict screening more than 32 million individuals from June 27 to July 8, marking a 5.4% increase from last year. On June 23, TSA achieved a new milestone by screening nearly 3 million people in a single day. June 28 is expected to be the busiest travel day, with over 3 million individuals projected to be screened. TSA’s goal is to keep wait times under 10 minutes in TSA PreCheck lanes and below 30 minutes in standard screening lanes.
Passengers should be aware that security screening technologies vary between airports. The TSA has standardized protocols, so arriving early and following TSO directives is crucial.
