The 2026 Henley Passport Index has been released, providing a comprehensive look at global mobility across 199 different passports and 227 travel destinations. Based on exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the index highlights shifting trends in international access.
While the top spots are dominated by Singapore, Japan, and South Korea, the U.S. passport remains a powerful asset, currently ranking 10th globally.
Despite this high ranking, the era of “just showing up with a blue passport” is evolving. New digital requirements and shifting international policies mean that travel preparation is more critical than ever for American citizens and U.S.-based corporations.
Starting in 2026, the European Union is fully implementing ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System). U.S. citizens traveling to most European countries will now require this pre-travel authorization. Registration must be completed online before you head to the airport.
From Brazil’s reinstated visa requirements for Americans to the complex business visa processes for China and India, international travel is becoming more regulated. For corporate travelers, understanding current “Visa Compliance” is a key step to avoid costly delays or entry denials at the border.
